NYPD officer suffers self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Bronx

WAKEFIELD, Bronx (WABC) -- An off-duty police officer suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the Wakefield section of the Bronx, officials say.

The incident happened at the NYPD's Auto Crime and Narcotics Division at 500 Abbott Street.

The officer was being taken to Jacobi Medical Center

Circumstances were not immediately known.
