PASSAIC (WABC) -- Police are trying to determine how a man who stabbed himself got into an elementary school in New Jersey early Wednesday.
A custodian at Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School 10 called police after finding the 37-year-old on the floor bleeding around 5:25 a.m.
The man's name has not been released.
Police responded and found the man bleeding from his neck, chin and abdomen.
He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Detective Andy White say the man was caught on video stabbing himself at his Harrison Street home, which is near the school.
Authorities stress that the self-inflicted stabbing did happen inside the school and that students are safe with school in session.
