A 10-year-old boy may have saved his sister's life before losing his own in the Passaic River, according to the mayor.
Passaic Mayor Hector Lora said the fire broke out at 452 Lafayette Ave. which rose to a third alarm.
Pictures obtained by Eyewitness News showed firefighters trying to pull a couple -- a husband in his 60s and his wife, 50 -- out of the first floor window where the fire started.
Three firefighters were also treated for non-life-threatening injuries after the blaze.
Mayor Hector Carlos Lora said the rule applies to any vendors on streets or sidewalks without a permit selling food, merchandise, flowers, etc
Officials are urging drivers taking local streets to travel cautiously and avoid pockets of flooding.
