NYC Transit conductor rescues teen from subway tracks

NEW YORK (WABC) -- This week's MTA Hero is Ray McKie, a conductor with New York City Transit who saved a teenager's life.

McKie was working at the Queensboro Plaza subway station and was on the platform when a teen fainted and fell onto the northbound tracks.

He heard loud screams and rushed to help. He also signaled the incoming train to stop.

McKie rescued the teen from the tracks and stayed with him until EMS arrived. The teen recovered after the incident.

He happened to be in the right place at the right time because he had wrapped up his break a little sooner than usual. He wasn't even supposed to be on the platform at the time.

McKie is a dad and says his fatherly instincts kicked in. He did not hesitate to run and help.

He marks two years with the MTA next month and says he enjoys coming to work and interacting with his colleagues and the public.
