WEST NYACK (WABC) -- Two raccoons have tested positive for rabies in Van Houten Fields, West Nyack in the same area a skunk tested positive a month ago.

Residents are urged to use caution and supervisor their pets when they are outdoors.

Food should not be left out for stray cats. If a rabid animal eats from the bowl, saliva left behind could expose other animals to rabies.

Anyone who believes they may have a rabid animal in their yard is asked to call Clarkstown Police at (845) 639-5800.

If anyone is bitten or comes in contact with a wild animal should contact the Rockland County Health Department at (845) 364-2585.
