NEW YORK (WABC) -- It's a season finale so surprising that even the people who are starring in it don't know what's going to happen.
And "Scandal" creator Shonda Rhimes says the fourth season is going out with a bang.
The trick with any finale is to satisfy the curiosity of fans who've watched every show, while also capturing the attention of those who may be curious as to what all the buzz is about. And it had better leave everyone wanting more.
Make no mistake, plenty of people will get hurt.
"My favorite plot twist for this whole season is probably going to be the plot twist that you see (in the finale)," actor Guillermo Diaz said. "So I can't say what it is, but
there is an amazing ridiculous one."
It may surprise you to learn even the stars are in the dark as to exactly what wll happen, even though Diaz and other members of the cast have been all over the place this week promoting the finale.
"We simply got an e-mail from Shonda a few days ago saying that the ending was going to be different from the script, the finale script that we shot," Diaz said.
Rhimes decided to re-edit and restructure the finale.
"She's done stuff like this before, and it always ends up being better than that original script that we got or that we shot,"
The season that began on a beach in Zanzibar ends with a quiet talk between Olivia and her former lover, the president of the United States. But as for what happens in between, well, for that, you'll have to watch.
The cast will spend the evening with each other, live tweeting with fans as a thank you to them for making "Scandal" such a big hit.
"We owe everything to our fans," star Kerry Washington said. "We only have a show because people watch the show and people love the show, so any time we get, any chance we get to let them know that we love them as much as they love us is really a gift."
The "Scandal" finale airs Thursday night at 9 p.m. on ABC.
