NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- In New York City, the typical Christmas Eve means frigid temperatures, bone-chilling wind gusts and snow. Not this year.

The city and much of the Northeast is on track to have a warmer Christmas Eve than most Southwest cities and even Los Angeles.

This map shows where the record-breaking warmth is expected:

On the other coast and in desert states, the people there are bundling up.
