The New York Giantssigned veteran offensive lineman Greg Van Roten, coach Brian Daboll said Tuesday.

Van Roten, 34, has started 71 games in his career, including 17 in 2023, perhaps his best season for the Las Vegas Raiders under offensive line coach Carmen Bricillo.

Bricillo is the Giants' new line coach this season.

The Giants' plan with Van Roten is to "throw him into the mix," according to Daboll. There could be an opening as a starting guard after Jermaine Eluemunor was bumped out to right tackle at the start of training camp.

The addition of Van Roten and Eluemunor at right tackle puts Evan Neal's starting job in real jeopardy. Neal, the Giants' No. 7 draft pick in 2022, had been the team's starting right tackle the past two years, when healthy, but he has struggled and is currently on the physically unable to perform list after having ankle surgery late last year.

Van Roten ranked 28th among guards in pass block win rate (92.1%) last season while playing exclusively on the right side, though he played extensively on the left side earlier in his career and also has some experience at center.

ESPN's Brady Henderson contributed to this report.
