The driver lost control and hit the scaffolding at the intersection of West 168th Street and Broadway.
The incident happened at Highland Road and Purchase Street around 1:20 a.m., and the driver ended up crashing into a small tree after the extended altercation.
Authorities received a call of an automobile accident and found the taxi had brushed into a building at York Avenue and East 79th Street.
