Man tries to rob Massapequa TD Bank, police say

A man wearing what appears to be a uniform attempted to rob a Long Island bank Tuesday.

MASSAPEQUA, Long Island (WABC) -- A man wearing what appears to be a uniform attempted to rob a Long Island bank Tuesday.

According to the Nassau County Police Department, around 4 p.m. a man entered the TD Bank on Merrick Road in Massapequa, and gave the manager a note demanding money.

The manager told the suspect that she was not a teller and did not have any money.

The suspect then fled the bank and headed north on Carman Mill Road without taking any money.

The suspect is described as 25 years old, between 5 feet 11 inches and 6 feet 3 inches tall, with a thin build and light brown hair. Police said he was wearing a black baseball cap with an emblem on it with a white towel under it. He also wore a tan short-sleeved work shirt with emblems, over a gray long-sleeved shirt and tan pants.

There were seven employees and one customer inside the bank at the time. There were no reported injuries.
