SWARTHMORE, Pa. (WABC) -- A student from New York City has died in a tragic accident at Swarthmore College in suburban Philadelphia.

Police say sophomore Anthony Charenza was alone when he accidentally plunged 40 to 50 nfeet off of a cliff in a wooded section of the campus.

Chiarenza was from Bayside, Queens.

School president Valerie Smith asked students, faculty and staff to keep Chiarenza's family and friends in their thoughts and prayers. She urged students to look out for one another.

The fall occurred the same day Smith was being officially installed as president. Officials say one-on-one counseling will be provided by the college.
