Woman on Upper West Side grabbed from behind, raped, police say

UPPER WEST SIDE (WABC) -- Police are searching for a rapist on the Upper West Side, where a woman was attacked on the street.

Investigators say the 26-year old victim noticed a man walking with a red bicycle on Manhattan Avenue.

After she passed him, he grabbed her from behind and raped her, than fled, according to police.

The suspect is described as being about 20 to 25 years old.

The victim was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for treatment.
