UH superfan cheering on coogs in fun costumes
Steven Powell, a University of Houston superfan, rocks fun costumes at every game.

HOUSTON, Texas -- The University of Houston men's basketball team takes on Purdue University in the Sweet Sixteen this Friday, and sitting behind the UH bench will be Steven Powell.

Powell has been a season ticket holder for four years, and it's rare for him to miss a game.

"I'm a huge fan because the University of Houston has one goal, it's 'For The City.' It's not just about the university, it's about the city of Houston."

Powell, 37, is a former UH student and works in the medical field. He occasionally sits courtside alongside sports superstars such as Hakeem Olajuwon and Tank Dell, but it's Powell, in his eye-catching costumes who might just steal your attention.

"I just wanted to bring just as much spirit not just for the team, but for the fans," Powell shared.

Some of his outfits include a pirate, a gladiator, and a chicken, but his friend Cole Conner said Powell's astronaut outfit is the best.

"You think about the city and its history with NASA, I think it's a pretty unique outfit," Conner added.
