NEW YORK (WABC) -- New Yorkers and those around the Tri-State woke up to a white Christmas Eve morning as a quick burst of snow fell across the region.
The snow fell on top of 1" that was already on the ground and that means there is a good chance of having the first white Christmas in NYC since 2009 -- that is 15 years ago.
On any given year, there is only 13% chance of a white Christmas for NYC.
The official National Weather Service qualification for a white Christmas is: 1" of snow on the ground at 7 a.m. on Christmas morning.
