Spring storm brings snow to Tri-State, Long Island hit hardest
NEW YORK (WABC) -- A spring snowstorm moved into the Tri-State area overnight, making for slick travel conditions in some spots for the Monday morning commute.
The snow was coming down steadily Monday morning in Amityville, Long Island, but most roads were clear:
By mid-morning, a little more than 3 inches had accumulated in Nassau County, while parts of New Jersey had slight accumulations on cars and grassy surfaces.
In Seaford, accumulating snow brought down power lines and sparked a fire, knocking out power to about 500 customers.
The highest snow totals were in Connecticut, where 4.8 inches were recorded in Hamden and 4.2 inches in New Haven.
The snow began to taper off by mid-morning, with skies clearing later in the day and highs expected to reach the upper 40's. Even more of a warmup is in store for later in the week.
