Corzine rides train to promote new cars

NEW JERSEY The governor rode from Trenton to New Brunswick, greeting commuters and discussing the extra capacity of the new cars.

NJ Transit's board approved the purchase of the additional cars Wednesday.

The order will be delivered in 2010, boosting the number of multilevel cars in NJ Transit's fleet to 329.

The cars were introduced two years ago to help meet growing ridership demand.

Transportation Commissioner Kris Kolluri says 143 of the cars are now in service.
