CT man gets 50 years for killing friend

WATERBURY Twenty-seven-year-old Quincy Rapp took a plea deal and was sentenced Friday in Waterbury Superior Court in the shooting death of 24-year-old Thomas Paternostro.

Police say Rapp was upset after his apartment was burglarized in January. They say a short time after the thefts, Rapp forced Paternostro at gunpoint to walk more than a mile to a wooded area and shot his former high school friend in the back of the head.

Rapp told a judge on Friday that he killed Paternostro out of fear for himself and his family. Rapp said both his and Paternostro's families have suffered and he hoped God was with them.
