Gov. Jon Corzine wants more New Jersey commuters to car pool, so he is expanding the incentives under the state Department of Transportation's "Carpooling Makes Sense" program.Gas cards worth $150 to $200 will now be given for newly formed car pools with more than two participants.

Under the new guidelines, car pools with two people will continue to be eligible for $100 gas cards. Car pools with three participants can get the $150 cards, those with four or more can get a $200 card.

Corzine said the program is designed to improve air quality, reduce congestion and help commuters save on fuel costs.

A group must car pool together at least 24 days during a two-month period to be eligible for the cards.
