Funeral held for slain bus driver

BROOKLYN A funeral Mass for Edwin Thomas was held Monday at Sacred Heart Church in Cambria Heights, Queens. It was followed by burial at Nassau Knolls Cemetery in Port Washington, Long Island.

Police say the 46-year-old Thomas was driving a B46 bus in Brooklyn when a man boarded through the exit door. They say Thomas denied the man a transfer slip and argued with him before being punched in the head and stabbed.

A 20-year-old man identified by witnesses has been charged with murder. Police say he's confessed to the stabbing.

Thomas leaves a wife and two teenage children.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg praised Thomas for his service to the city.
