Rikers' corrections officers indicted

NEW YORK The officers will be arraigned Thursday morning in Bronx Criminal Court in connection with the death of 18-year-old Christopher Robinson.

Charges will be revealed during the court hearing. A grand jury was believed to be hearing evidence against the three officers.

Robinson was found dead in his Rikers Island cell in October, covered in welts and bruises.

Robinson's family alleged that at least three young men beat him up, and then refused to let him be treated at the jail infirmary.

A spokesman for the Correction Officers' Benevolent Association said their members are innocent and they will vigorously defend them.

Robinson, on parole for a 2007 burglary charge, was arrested Aug. 26 on a parole violation. Cops said he beat another teen with a rock in July.
