8-year-old killed in Brooklyn hit and run

An 8-year-old boy was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Canarsie section of Brooklyn.Police say Elijah Thomas was struck at the intersection of East 95th Street and Seaview Avenue at around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday night.

He was reportedly crossing East 95th Street with his mother when he was hit by an SUV that was traveling northbound. His mother was unhurt.

Thomas was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Eyewitness News is told the driver of the SUV that struck the boy fled the scene. The vehicle was described as a light-colored Cadillac SUV.
