Crime scene investigators went in and out of the underground parking garage pulling out large paper bags filled with evidence.
Police tape wrapped half the block on Brighton 11th Street.
That's how some of Vladislav Tolstykh's friends and neighbors found out he was murdered.
"The guy was good. It was senseless. I hope they catch whoever did this," New Brighton Jewish Center director Eli Yahu said.
He says the father of five always parked his car in the garage then walked to the Brighton Bazaar Supermarket for work.
"He would always say good morning. He would give us discounts on kosher foods," Yahu said.
Sources say the culprit made at least one huge mistake.
The block is littered with cameras and several point in the exact direction of the crime scene.
Police believe it's just a matter of time before the person is caught. Neighbors say the sooner the better.
"It's great neighborhood. Never something like this happen before," Tania Kozak said.
