Man accused of unlicensed root canals

MINEOLA, NY The allegations follow a complaint by a Long Island patient who was getting a root canal. She said her teeth had to be drilled three times before the correct tooth was found.

Paul Diba was expected to be arraigned Tuesday on felony counts of unauthorized practice and other misdemeanor charges. He could face four years in prison if convicted.

Nassau County DA Kathleen Rice says Diba ran a dental office in Roslyn from June 2007 until his arrest on Monday. She says Diba has never been licensed as a dentist in New York.

A message left at Diba's office was not immediately returned.

Prosecutors said the name of his attorney was not immediately on record.
