A security guard suffered minor injuries after he was thrown from the car of an accused shoplifter who was fleeing the scene. The incident happened in the Mariners Harbor section of Staten Island.

Authorities say the woman tried to steal something from a store on Forest Avenue. When she got in her green Volkswagon Beetle and tried to get away, Tyron Brown reportedly tried to keep her at the scene by jumping on her car.

She apparently drove off, swerving back and forth in an effort to knock the man off the car.

The suspect then crashed into a car at Forest and Union avenues. She was ejected from the vehicle, while Brown says he was launched into the middle of the street. Both suffered only minor injuries.

Police say the shoplifter was arrested.

Brown says he wants to be a school police officer.
