Stabbing at high school in Queens

FLUSHING, Queens Police say the teen was stabbed with a steak knife inside Newtown High School, at 48-01 90th Street, just before 11:30 a.m. Students were locked in their classrooms while police searched for the weapon.

Police say the fight took place in the hallway on the third floor of the school.

He was rushed to Elmhurst Medical Center where he was listed in stable condition.

One 16-year-old student was taken into custody at the scene.

Detectives were looking for the steak knife, which they believe may have been thrown out the window.
