The NYPD is getting tough after a spike in violence in Lower Manhattan.

A published report says felony assaults in the First Precinct jumped 71 percent from mid-July to early August.

Police blame it on a boom in the number of parties and clubs.

They say party promoters have been moving out of Chelsea and Midtown because of all the police attention they've been getting.
