Long Island man shot to death while driving

Suffolk County police are investigating the death of a man who was shot while driving in Gordon Heights Sunday night.

Police say Charles Wilson, who had just dropped off his mother at her home, was driving in the vicinity of West Lane when he was shot in his left side at 9:40 p.m. Wilson attempted to drive back to his mother's home when he crashed his vehicle into a pickup truck that was parked in the driveway of 63 West Lane.

Wilson, 27, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, where he was pronounced dead at 11 p.m.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this incident to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
