Police have identified the victim as 56-year-old Gloria Moreira.
Neighbors said she was running to catch the bus on her way to work when she didn't make it across the street.
The victim was struck by a school bus as she attempted to cross the street.
A neighbor who lived across the street ran to help, but there was nothing he could do.
"I grabbed her wrist and felt a faint pulse, and then a minute or so later I checked it again and there was nothing," said Andrew Levey.
Family members say Moreira was a hard working woman who was just trying to make a living.
