Peter Pan brings smiles to local kids' faces

NEW YORK

He arrives at Maria Fareri Children's Hospital to spread holiday cheer.

Cathy Rigby is Peter Pan. The world class gymnast turned actress originated the role 21 years ago and makes a special comeback this season at Madison Square Garden.

"Peter Pan is about hope and mischief and adventures and I want them to keep that inside," she said.

This visit is through the Garden of Dreams Foundation, the charity partnered with Madison Square Garden that hopes to"make dreams come true for kids facing obstacles.

"I had scoliosis for a few years and the brace didn't work so I had a spinal fusion which is like rods in my back," said Jazmin Williams.

And 6-year-old Anya was hospitalized when her kidneys started to fail. "It's scary when they give you shots," she says.

Rigby knows, these kids can use a little magic. "These are the kids that need so much they need some happiness some magic some fairy dust."
