Stephen Barton of Southbury and his family returned from the Denver area this week. The Hartford Courant reports (http://bit.ly/ObYdA6 ) that 22-year-old Barton underwent surgery to remove shotgun pellets in his neck and arms.
He was one of 58 people wounded July 20 when a gunman opened fire in an Aurora, Colo., theater during a screening of the latest "Batman" film. James Holmes, a 24-year-old former doctoral student, is accused of opening fire, killing 12 moviegoers.
Barton and a friend were on a bike trip across the country. His friend was not injured.
Barton's mother, Christine, says they plan to raise money for the shooting victims. Details are being worked out.
