The shooting happened around 12 a.m. on Wednesday morning at a bodega in /*Paterson*/'s main business district on Broadway.
The mother and son, 40, were working inside the store when robbers allegedly entered and fired several shots.
The son was shot in the leg while he struggled with the robber. Another bullet struck his mother in the stomach.
Family members of the victims rushed to the scene from the /*Bronx*/.
Both victims are at /*St. Joseph's Hospital*/s, and are undergoing surgery to remove the bullets.
Shooting took place where a Paterson police officer was gunned down several years ago.
The suspect is still on the loose.
