Suspect in deadly Upper West Side crash due in court

UPPER WEST SIDE

Franklin Reyes, 17, has an 11 a.m. court appearance in Manhattan.

He is charged with mansaughter in the death of 4-year-old Ariel Russo.

Police say he hit Russo and her grandmother with his car while trying to flee police in June.

Russo's parents will attend the proceedings.

Reyes wept openly at his bail hearing in late June, in which the judge allowed him to be released.

"My daughter is dead and this guy is free, he's going to have the summer, he's home, he's going to play video games, he's going to eat his mom's home cooked food, I'm never going to have my daughter back," said Alan Russo, the victim's father.

Reyes had no driver's license at the time of the crash.
