PROSPECT HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A rideshare driver shot last week in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn during an apparent robbery died over the weekend.

Police say two men got in the back of 52-year-old Naveed Afzal's van and then one of them shot him in the face.

Afzal was answering a call for a ride on Lincoln Place last Thursday night when he was shot in the face in what is believed to have been an attempted robbery.

Witnesses of the shooting told police they saw two men in hoodies running away from the scene.

The men apparently tried to rob Afzal, who still had a cellphone and cash on him. They left a .380-handgun in Afzal's black Mercedes Benz SUV as they fled.

The suspects involved with the shooting remain on the run and no arrests have been made.
