It took about an hour to put out the flames.
No injuries were reported.
The cause is under investigation.
Routes 1&9 were closed while firefighters stretched water hoses across the highway to battle the blaze.
Fire burns through three NJ homes
ELIZABETH Authorities say the fire broke out in the attic of a house on Anna Street just after 9 a.m. The flames quickly spread to adjoining homes on both sides.
