The four students who got sick attend the Harborfields and Wyandanch school districts. A fifth student has now recovered and returned to classes in the Levittown School District.
Symptoms include fever, headache, stiff neck and lethargy.
Health officials say the most effective prevention is frequent and thorough hand washing.
