Staten Island Ferry Service restored

NEW YORK DOT spokesman Seth Solomonow said Saturday service had been restored about 9 p.m. The ferry carries passengers between St. George on Staten Island and Whitehall Street in lower Manhattan.

The U.S. Coast Guard had ordered the service suspended at 6 p.m. because of heavy winds.

The National Weather Service was reporting gusts of wind up to 60 miles per hour in some parts of New York City.
