The incident happened just before 11:30 p.m when a compact car slammed into the rear-end of a tractor trailer in the /*Port Morris*/ section of the /*Bronx*/.
Rescue crews pulled the car's driver and a passenger from the wreckage and took them to the hospital.
Both are in critical condition.
The /*Bruckner Expressway*/ was closed during the investigation.
