Officials say the fire broke out at about 5 a.m. Sunday on the 8th floor of an 18 story building located at the corner of East 76th Street and First Avenue.
Firefighters had the fire under control shortly before 6 a.m.
No word on the condition of the woman.
No one else was hurt and the cause is unknown.
