Friends and family will gather Friday to bid a final farewell to Kean University student Billy McCaw, who was found beaten to death in New Brunswick.

The service will be held this evening at the Calvary Bible Chapel in Readington Township. Hundreds of people attended a wake in Hillsborough Thursday night after more than 500 turned out Wednesday at a service on the main campus of Rutgers, where McCaw attended before transferring.

The 22-year-old was found dead Saturday morning in the backyard of a home near Rutgers, where McCaw frequently visited.

Police have few leads in the murder. The preliminary investigation determined that he suffered blunt force trauma, but autopsy results have not yet been released.

Friends say they last saw McCaw on Friday night.

The body was found in a neighborhood where mostly college students live. Some students are now concerned about their own safety, while friends are asking why McCaw was beaten so severely and left to die.

"No one deserves that, especially someone that great," said Megan Shea, who went to high school with McCaw. "He was just an all-around great kid. He had a huge group of friends, his family was very loving and loved him very much. He was just an all-around great guy. He was never into any bad crowds or anything like that."
