According to the New York Daily News, Hill was a lifelong New Yorker who spent most of his 20-year career in theater.
He also played Alec Lowndes on ABC's "One Life to Live" from 1982-85.
Variety reports that he left acting and spent time working as a part-time librarian and writing poetry in his later years.
He is survived by his only son, Chris W. Hill, a film editor.
