The fire was sparked inside a duct at Gallagher's on West 52nd Street.
The initial call came in 6:13 p.m., and after 60 firefighters responded to the scene, the blaze was declared under control about an hour later.
No one was hurt, but the restaurant closed for the night and area streets were blocked off to traffic.
Gallagher's will reopen Tuesday. The restaurant relaunched last month after a multi-million dollar renovation.
