NEW YORK (WABC) -- An off duty cop from New Jersey did some crime fighting off the clock while visiting Manhattan and saved a woman from an attacker.

Officer Ryan Dubiel from Camden saw the victim getting assaulted Sunday afternoon by a homeless man in Hell's Kitchen.

The officer ran over, stopped the attack, and then held the suspect until NYPD officers could arrive.

"I'm always checking my surroundings, you know, never being too relaxed where I'm not paying attention to my surroundings, you call it relaxed alert or yellow alert, or just being ready at a moment's notice," said Officer Ryan Dubiel, of the Camden County Police Department.

The 29-year-old woman suffered cuts to her hand but was not seriously injured.

The suspect is now charged with assault.
