Bill for more pedestrian bollards passes in NYC council
Bill Ritter reports on how New York City Council passed legislation to install more barricades protecting pedestrians and bicyclists.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York City Council passed legislation Tuesday to install more barricades protecting pedestrians.

The transportation committee voted in support of bill 1658A Monday, and it passed unanimously (50-0) through the full council Tuesday. The law means the city will place more bollards in strategic locations.

The short, thick posts prevent cars from driving into pedestrians or bicycle zones, like what happened in the Halloween terror attack in TriBeCa that killed eight people.
