Artist inspires New Yorkers with sidewalk art

NEW YORK, New York (WABC) -- His artwork is hard to miss. In fact, you really have to get around them. That's because Hans Honschar expresses himself on sidewalks using chalk. He says he loves working with chalk because it " washes off easily ."

From hearts, to flowers, to inspiring quotes, Honschar says he hopes his works, "lift you up."

He says he likes having his art on the sidewalk because, "Everyone can see it. You don't have to go to a museum. You don't have to buy anything. It's open to all."

We recently caught up with him as he worked on the upper west side.

As expected, the artist drew a crowd. Some people even recognized him for his works and thanked him for his positive messages.

Honschar says, "I aspire to inspire."

He has a huge following on social media. People spot and then post his works on Instagram using the hashtag, #hhny.
