Serious crash causes traffic delays in East Brunswick

EAST BRUNSWICK, New Jersey (WABC) -- One person was hurt in an early-morning one-car crash in New Jersey Monday, backing up traffic for miles.

It happened around 5 a.m. southbound on Route 18 in East Brunswick, and all lanes were shut down.

Authorities say the driver of an SUV lost control and overturned.

It appeared to be the only vehicle involved in the crash.

One person was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. Their condition is not yet known.

The road was closed near Eggers Street, backing up traffic towards the New Jersey Turnpike.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
