WATCH: Members of FDNY release video showing support for LGBT teens

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Gay, lesbian and transgender members of the FDNY are speaking out in a groundbreaking video they hope will save lives.

The video, titled "It Gets Better", is meant to show support to LGBT teens who are contemplating suicide. In it, a dozen members of the department share their struggles over coming out.

Studies show that roughly a quarter of transgender teens attempt suicide.
