Elderly woman found dead inside of burning Manhattan apartment

EAST SIDE (WABC) -- An elderly woman was found dead inside a burning apartment on the East Side Tuesday.

The fire started just after 2 p.m. inside a 14th floor apartment at 45 Sutton Place South.

A woman in her seventies was found dead inside.

The fire was contained to the one apartment.

The fire was placed under control at 3:20 p.m.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation but he's expected to be OK.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
