Man attacked with machete at El Carboncito restaurant in Bronx

SOUNDVIEW (WABC) -- Police in New York City are searching for a man they say used a machete to stab another person during a fight inside a Bronx restaurant.



According to police, a man in his 20s, who has not been identified, was inside El Carboncito Saturday in the 1500 block of Watson Avenue in the Soundview section.



Just before 1:30 a.m., he was assaulted by another man who removed a machete from an umbrella and slashed the victim on his neck, back, shoulder and arms five times.



After the assault, the suspect put the machete back in the umbrella and fled the scene.



The victim is critical but stable at Jacobi Medical Center. He is expected to survive.



According to the New York City Police Department, the suspect is a Hispanic man, 20- to 25-years-old who was wearing was 5 feet 7 inches tall, and wearing a white shirt and Yankee baseball hat.
