WATER MILL, Long Island (WABC) -- A victim found murdered at a high-end resort in the Hamptons has been identified as a 33-year-old woman from New York City.
Police said Tuesday that the body of Sabina Rosas was found in a guest room in Water Mill on Monday afternoon.
She was discovered by a staff member at Shou Sugi Ban House, located at 337 Montauk Highway, at 12:30 p.m.
While her exact cause of death was not yet revealed, authorities say the woman was the victim of violence.
Local residents were stunned by the crime, and were left with plenty of questions.
"Wow. How did this happen? I mean, this is a spa, people see you. Usually you're checked in," said North Sea resident Jeanette Selles.
Police have told Eyewitness News that they don't believe this was a random crime, although no one is in custody at this time.
Meanwhile, traffic along Montauk Highway has slowed down as the curious pass by.
The average price of a room is more than $1,300 hundred per night.
Neighbor Tom Pedrazzi says his wife and some friends once visited.
"They said it was quite amazing," Pedrazzi said. "Nice food, nice people, they all did spa treatments."
Some residents called the place eccentric, but now call it unsettling in a community of homes that are more like estates, where people come for the calm.
"They're kind of in their own little world there," Pedrazzi said. "I don't think it's a cult like, but it's definitely got its own little vibe going."
The victim's cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Anyone with information is asked to call Suffolk County Police Homicide Division at 631- 852-6396 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
