CALVERTON, Long Island (WABC) -- Nine people were injured in an accident Tuesday near a popular water park on Long Island.
The crash happened at about 3:40 p.m. outside Splish Splash water park in Calverton, Suffolk County.
Eight of the injured were in a Jeep Wrangler, including several small children.
It appeared the Wrangler was heading west on Route 25 and was attempting to turn into the water park when it collided with another vehicle, a Dodge Charger.
Police say two children were ejected from the Wrangler. Witnesses said the children were then struck by one of the Jeep's tires before the vehicle came to a stop.
One person in the Charger was injured.
None of the injuries were found to be life threatening, including the two children who were ejected.
The driver of the Wrangler, Joshua Alvin Burns, was issued traffic tickets for seatbelt violations involving three unsecured children in the vehicle.
The accident remains under investigation.
